iPhone 2.2 Firmware Released To All
Author: Capen Karr | Posted under: NewsTags: apple, firmware 2.2, update
Last night while you were probably sleeping Apple released their latest iPhone upgrade. Firmware 2.2 has been highly anticipated ever since developers leaked new features such as Google Street View and the ability to email locations.
We have reported the new features as we discovered them, and here is Apple’s official list of what’s included in the latest and greatest:
Enhancements to Maps.app
- Google Street View
- public transit and walking diretions
- display address of dropped pins
- share location via email
Enhancements to Mail
- resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching of email
- improved formatting of wide HTML email
Safari.app
- Improved stability and performance of Safari
iPod.app and iTunes.app
- Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application (over Wi-Fi and cellular)
Other Improvements
- Decrease in call set-up failures and call drops
- Improved sound quality of visual voicemail messages
- Pressing the Home button from any Home screen takes you to the first Home screen
- Preferences to turn on/off auto-correction in Keyboard settings
For those of you who still use your iPhone as a phone, the improved sound quality of voicemail and decreased drop calls will surely be welcomed features that we have not discussed before. See our previous post for more details and screenshots of the new features, or just go download the thing yourself: It’s free!
Sadly some killer really basic features that iPhone users are waiting for are still missing: No copy and paste functionality, and no support for MMS. Also not addressed in this update are audio over bluetooth and the now past due push-notification service promised at WWDC.
It’s still a great update which takes the iPhone to another level with new features that show it’s still Android proof.

I am glad that apple is continuing to update the firmware, but can they get some priorities straight? Like better integration with exchange calendar invites and some copy paste. I would love to replace my blackberry with an IPhone at work, but these basics need to be provided. Sure Street view is nice, but all its going to do is help me find the soup line if I lose my job because I missed a calendar invite.

I am pretty sure in the apple release notes for the new firmware I saw something about exchange calendar invites, I might be wrong.

Hi all,
I know I am probably posting in the wrong section, but I am desperately after some help and advice.
My Iphone is Jailbroken, however, I have had a recent problem where when I make a call, I connect but cant end the call. I end up with just the springboard view, with the bar that says return to call at the top of the springboard. The same goes for incoming calls.
I also can not view my recent calls or issed calls by tapping the phone button!
Any suggestions/help please, before I go ahead and do a restore and lose all my existing features since jailbreaking?
Thanks in advance
