Exclusive Demo Video of MagicPad - iPhone Copy / Paste & More (07/28/08)

Copy & Paste is coming to the iPhone shortly.
No, this isn’t a false reference to the Fake Copy & Paste Video from last year.
No, Apple hasn’t changed their tune and decided to push the feature to the top of their priority list.
Rather, a third-party company has submitted an app that promises to finally deliver Copy & Paste functionality to iPhone users worldwide, and we’ve got dibs on a first look.
The program, a rich-text editing tool, lets iPhone owners select text by highlighting with a double-tap and drag motion. From there, users can not only Copy & Paste, but change the text in a variety of ways, including:
- 5 different font sizes
- 6 different font choices
- 8 different color choices
- bold, italics, underline, and strike-through
We’ve got some first look screenshots below and hope to have a Demo Video very soon:

will it work throughout the system/apps or only in this app
because what users need is for example to be able to copy text in safari and paste it in an email, note or sms..

Iphone Ipod Touch 2.0 Copy Paste App Coming Out on July 21st, 2008 at 1:28 pm
I may be wrong but it looks like it might be just a text editor with the copy & paste functionality (i.e. not going to work on other programs). But it’s still very cool as a rich text editor was much needed since the Notes program is not enough.

Excellent! Although I would prefer it if Apple themselves do something like this, something is better than nothing. This app is going to sell like a bitch!
goobi on July 22nd, 2008 at 2:41 am
Hey guys, it appears the application above will only allow Copy & Paste functionality within the app itself (at least initially). Due to restrictions in Apple’s SDK, interactivity between apps like this isn’t yet permitted. We’ll hopefully be having a video demonstration to post shortly, so stay tuned!

I don’t see Apple making a solution like this. You need to place an extra set of buttons above the keyboard, and I don’t think copy/paste is worth it. There needs to be a way to do it without buttons.

Apple should really just have a button that expands the keyboard to add these special buttons. Hopefully they’ll smarten up and integrate this into the core iPhone OS.
Chuck Smith on July 23rd, 2008 at 11:03 pm
A keyboard that added the buttons would be nice, but I really want to see an all-motion way to copy & paste without even using buttons.
